1. What is virtual hosting?
Virtual Hosting is an option that allows a company or
individual to lease part of a server to store their web
site data, rather than pay for an entire machine with
more space than they need. As part of our virtual hosting
we provide a dedicated IP address as opposed to a shared
IP. However, for most sites we use the shared IP system,
to keep our costs low.
2.
What is a web site?
A web site is your opportunity to be seen on the World
Wide Web. It is a physical space on a web server connected
to the Internet. Your web site is where you store your
web pages that make up the content of information about
your business or organization.
Through
the domain name (URL), such as yourname.com, anyone can
access your site and learn about you. Whether your site
is strictly information based, or complete with online
ordering features for your product, visitors will have
access to you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (24/7). If
you have a business, you can use the Internet to approach
consumers you might not be able to reach through conventional
advertising and media vehicles. The World Wide Web is
your link to worldwide exposure.
It
is important to remember that if you intend to have your
site accessible 24/7, it is wise to host it with a company
that dedicates all of its bandwidth to hosting. All Web Now
is such a company. Our network is not bogged down by users
trying to access the Internet. We are dedicated to serving
up your content and providing you with all of the special
features you need to professionally host your site.
3.
What's a domain name?
A domain name is your address on the World Wide Web. With
your company's online image at stake, you should make
sure your domain name includes your company name (yourbusiness.com).
Then, your e-mail address will also be specific to your
company. Your potential clients may assume that your company
isn't established if it doesn't have its own domain name.
There are tens of thousands of domain names registered
every day with over 4 million already reserved. Reserve
your name before it becomes the property of someone else.
4.
Does All Web Now offer dial-up Internet access?
No, you will need local Internet
access in order to maintain your website and retrieve
e-mail addressed to your site.
5.
How do I setup my web site at All Web Now?
Simply
sign up for a new account on our secure
online order form.
6.
How quickly can I access my web site, after transferring
it or setting it up?
Your account will be setup the same business day! Once
an account is set-up an activation notice will be sent
to you via e-mail including your username, password, and
your IP address.
7.
How do I transfer my site to All Web Now?
Step 1: Sign
up with us just as if it was a new account.
Step
2:
Within 12 hours you will receive an email from us, issuing
you an IP number and stating that your account has been
setup.
Step
3:
Transfer your content and test your site on our server with your IP number.
You use the IP number just like a domain name. For example, if we give
you an IP number of 216.67.225.74, you can put that number in a browser
as http://216.67.225.74/~username/ to see what your pages will look like
on our server. We offer this so while your domain name is in the propagation
period, you can temporarily view and update your site via a web browser.
Note: Domain names take up to 48 to 72 hours to propagate over
the world wide web's servers. If you purchased a domain name through
us, disregard step 4 and 5 below.
Step
4:
Next, modify your domain nameservers with the appropriate registrar
company (the company that you initially registered your domain
name through i.e. network solutions, register.com, directnic etc.).
Use the All Web Now nameservers you receive upon signing up
within the confirmation email and input that information in the
primary and secondary form fields provided by your registrar.
Step
5:
Once you verify the transfer, the registrar will point your domain name
to our name server, and the rest of the world will be able to access your
new site on our server with your domain name within 48 to 72 hours.
