Mail is the default E-mail program in Apple's new OS X operating system.

To configure your shaw.ca E-mail account in Mail in OS X:

• Open the Mail program from the Dock

• Click Mail and select Preferences from the menu

• Select Accounts from the options across the top of the window, then select the Create Account button

• Change the Account Type to: POP Account
• Description: Type anything you like to help you identify this account
• E-mail Address: Type your full E-mail address here
• Full Name: Type your name here
• Incoming Mail server: The name of the mail server is yourdomain.com
  (yourdomain.com = the domain name your company or organization is hosting with, ie. mail.allwebnow.com.)
• User Name: Full E-mail address
• Password: Type your E-mail password here
• Once completed please click on the Options... button

• The name of the outgoing mail server is smtp.yourisp.com
  (yourisp = whoever your internet dsl, or dialup provider is i.e. smtp.fuse.net - here is a full list of smtp settings)
  NOTE: (Usually, you can use our SMTP setting but sometimes you may need to chang your settings to match your isp's mail server, i.e. smtp.fuse.net). Otherwise, your settings are: yourdomain.com (the domain you own)
• The Server port should read 25
• There should not be a check mark in use secure sockets layer (SSL)
• Authentication should be set to None and the user name and password area should remain blank
• Once completed, select OK

( For some ISP's such as Earthlink (which uses port 587 outgoing instead of 25), they require you to autenticate your outgoing mail using your isp's username and password as well. Note: Some isp's are also blocking port 25.  If this is the case for you, use port 26.)

• Select the tab that says Advanced
• Put a checkmark in the box beside Remove copy from server after retrieving a message

• You should see the alert message shown below. Click OK. (If you do not delete the messages on the server after they are downloaded, your mailbox will eventually fill up and people will no longer be able to send you any new E-mail until it is emptied. This option will clear the mailbox on the server every time you successfully download your E-mail messages to your mail program)
  
  
• Click OK to exit from the Advanced window

• You should see the descriptive name you entered earlier in the list
• Click the red Close button to finish the configuration
